Water garden – perfect way to site your pond
When building your water garden, one of the most important things to do is to choose the perfect place to site your pond. There are lots of factors that need to be taken into consideration. In this article we will look at some of the factors.
Don’t site your pond under shade. If you do plants like water lilies and lotuses that require sunlight will be deprived the ability to achieve their total beauty.
Siting a pond under overhanging trees is a bad habit that will frustrate your effort at the end of the day. You will have to go through the stress of removing falling leaves from the pond. If you don’t do they could clog pumps and filters. Also fruits and nuts can fall and pollute the water, making it poisonous for your fish.
Locate your pond in an active area of your yard for your enjoyment throughout the year.
Also consider your view when locating your pond. Locate it around the best view of your garden.
You need to consider drainage system of your environment too. Make sure you choose a well-drained soil and consider the runway for rainwater as the runoff could fill a pond with remains of pesticides and fertilizer residues, which will contaminate your pond water and make your fish vulnerable to disease or end up killing them.
Locate your pond where it will be easily accessible to a water supply and electricity as you will need this to power pumps, filters, fountains and other garden accessories.
